Children start speaking around the time they turn one year old, initially engaging in babbling and playing with various sounds. By the time they reach 12 months, it’s common for them to begin articulating simple words such as “mama” and “dada.” Between 18 and 24 months, their vocabulary typically grows more robust, enabling them to form simple sentences. Nonetheless, the precise age at which children start talking can differ significantly, as their language development is shaped by a mix of genetic factors, social interactions, and environmental influences. Some children may begin to speak earlier or later than others, and both instances generally fall within the normal range of developmental timelines.

Yes, we offer services at local homes, childcare centres, age care and schools. This service is usually available for families with NDIS funding, as travel expenses are billed at the NDIS rate based on the time it takes to travel from our clinic to your location and back.

We can arrange our therapy sessions through online video calls via your laptop using the application called ZOOM.
It is particularly useful for patients in remote areas, limited mobility, holidays, or those seeking convenient ways to manage their health without the need to physically visit our clinics.

Yes, most children are able to get an EPC/CDM form from the GP which allows for approximately $55 rebate back for each session for a total of 5 sessions per child, per year.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) people who have had a health assessment may be eligible for an additional 5 sessions per calendar year in addition to the 5 sessions under the EPC. A referral form for follow-up allied health services for clients of ATSI descent must be completed by a GP who has performed a health check.

You don’t need a referral to begin services with Enunciate Allied Health, although we do accept them.
However, an initial assessment with us will provide detailed information and outline the next steps to improve the quality of life for your family member or child.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a way of providing support for Australians with disability, their families and carers. The NDIS will provide all Australians under the age of 65 who have a permanent and significant disability with the reasonable supports they need. The NDIS supports people with disability to build skills and capability so they can participate in the community and employment. Enunciate Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapist, Art Therapists and Allied Health Assistants are registered NDIS Service Providers and can cater to self-managed, case-managed and agency managed NDIS funded clients. For further information visit www.ndis.gov.au or contact Enunciate Allied Health directly. Am I eligible? Answer some simple questions to see if you may be able to apply for the NDIS. These questions are just a guide, the final decision about eligibility is up to the NDIA. https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/am-i-eligible

Speech-language pathology, commonly known as speech therapy, is a specialised field within healthcare that focuses on the diagnosis, assessment, management, and treatment of individuals who have difficulty with communication and swallowing. Speech-language pathologists, also known as speech therapists, work with both children and adults to address a wide range of communication disorders and swallowing difficulties.

Speech-language pathologists are trained professionals who are registered with Speech Pathology Australia. They have expertise in evaluating and treating various aspects of communication, including speech clarity, understanding, and expressing language, fluency (such as stuttering), literacy skills, voice quality, and social skills. Additionally, speech-language pathologists are trained in the assessment and management of feeding and swallowing difficulties, which can occur in individuals of all ages.

The goal of speech-language pathology is to help individuals improve their communication and swallowing skills, enhance their quality of life, and achieve their full potential in their personal, social, academic, and professional lives.

Occupational therapists play a crucial role in helping people of all ages improve their ability to perform everyday tasks and participate in their communities. They work on various areas, including fine and gross motor skills, strength and endurance, balance and coordination, time management skills, handwriting and school productivity, sensory processing challenges and sensory integration, learning self-regulation and behaviour management, as well as attention, following directions, and problem solving. It’s important to note that occupational therapists in Australia are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, ensuring that they meet professional standards and provide quality care to their clients.

Therapy sessions can be between 30 to 90 minutes, consisting direct interaction and 5 minutes of writing progress notes. It is recommended to have these sessions weekly, based on research into speech and language intervention. Between sessions, homework is provided to reinforce learning, and a communication book is supplied to schools or childcare providers to facilitate ongoing practice.
